How it works

Pace equals time divided by distance, time equals pace times distance, and distance equals time divided by pace.

One mile is 1.609344 km. A half marathon is 21.0975 km and a marathon is 42.195 km.

Times can be written as h:mm:ss or mm:ss, and paces as m:ss or h:mm:ss. Results are rounded to the nearest second.

Distances above 0 and up to 1,000 km or miles are allowed, and values that are zero are rejected.

Questions and answers

What pace do I need for a sub 4 hour marathon?

About 5:41 per km, or 9:09 per mile. Choose Find pace, enter 42.195 km and 4:00:00, and press Run.

How do I convert pace per km to pace per mile?

Multiply the pace per km by 1.609344. A 5:00 per km pace is about 8:03 per mile.

Does this work for walking or cycling?

Yes, the math is the same for any steady speed. Speed is shown in km/h and mph too.
