How to use the cooking measurement converter

  1. Type an Amount, such as 1, 3/4 or 1 1/2.
  2. Choose the From and To units.
  3. Choose an Ingredient (for volume to weight) when one unit is a volume and the other is a weight.
  4. Press Run, then use Copy result or Download.

How it works

Volume units are US customary: 1 cup is 236.59 ml, 16 tablespoons or 48 teaspoons. Weight ounces are not fluid ounces.

Cups to grams uses these grams per US cup: water 236.59, all-purpose flour 120 (spooned and leveled), granulated sugar 200, butter 227, whole milk 245, honey 340 and uncooked white rice 185.

The density used is printed with every volume to weight result.

Ingredient conversions are approximate, because packing, humidity and brand change the weight of a cup. Converting volume to weight with no ingredient chosen is rejected.

Questions and answers
