How to use the final grade calculator

- Enter the Final exam weight (%), the share of the course grade the final counts for.

How it works
Score needed = (desired grade minus current grade times (1 minus weight)) divided by weight, with the weight as a fraction.
If the score needed is above 100%, the result says the goal is out of reach without extra credit and shows the highest possible grade.
If the score needed is 0% or less, the result says the goal is already secured.
It assumes your current grade covers the rest of the course. Weight must be above 0 and up to 100%, and grades can be up to 150% for extra credit.

What do I need on my final to get a 90?

What if the score needed is over 100%?
Then the target cannot be reached with the final alone. The tool shows the course grade a perfect 100% would give.
Does it work with points instead of percentages?
Convert points to percentages first. For example, 430 out of 500 points is 86%.
