How it works
Each month's interest is the remaining balance times APR divided by 12, rounded to the cent. The rest of the payment reduces the balance.
The scheduled payment is the standard level payment rounded to the cent, and the last payment covers whatever balance remains.
An extra monthly payment is added to every payment from the first month, and the summary shows months saved and interest saved.
The table has one row per month and the term is capped at 600 months, so it never shows more than 600 rows.
Everything runs in your browser. Your input is not uploaded or stored.
Questions and answers
What is an amortization schedule?
It is a table that lists every loan payment and shows how much goes to interest, how much goes to principal and the balance left after each one.
Why is more of my early payment interest?
Interest is charged on the remaining balance, which is largest at the start. As the balance falls, more of each payment goes to principal.
How much does an extra payment save?
Enter the extra amount and press Run. The summary compares the plan with the regular schedule and shows the months and interest saved.
