CSV to JSON

This tool turns a CSV file with a header row into a JSON array, where each row becomes an object that uses the column names as keys. It helps developers load spreadsheet exports into code, tests or APIs without writing a parser.

How to use the csv to json

  1. Paste CSV with a header row into the CSV with a header box.
  2. Set Input separator to Comma, Tab, Semicolon or Pipe.
  3. Choose Cell values: Keep every value as text, or Recognize plain numbers, true, false and null.
  4. Press Run, then Copy result or Download.

How it works

By default every cell stays text, so ZIP codes and IDs keep their leading zeros. Spaces around a cell are kept as typed.

With typed values on, cells like 42, -3.5, true, false and null become real JSON values. Text such as 007 or TRUE stays a string.

Quoted fields can hold separators, line breaks and doubled quotes ("").

Every row must have the same number of fields as the header, and the error names the row that does not. Blank or duplicate column names are rejected.

Limits are 500 columns and 100,000 data rows. In typed mode, a number too large to store exactly causes an error.

Everything runs in your browser. Your input is not uploaded or stored.

Questions and answers

How do I convert CSV to JSON?

Paste your CSV with its header row, pick the separator your file uses, and press Run. You get a JSON array with one object per row.

Can I convert semicolon or tab separated files?

Yes. Change Input separator to Semicolon, Tab or Pipe before you press Run.

Why are my numbers in quotes?

The default keeps every cell as text so nothing changes by accident. Choose Recognize plain numbers, true, false and null under Cell values to get JSON numbers and booleans.

Is my CSV uploaded?

No. The conversion happens on your own device, inside the browser tab.
