How to use the utm link builder
- Paste the page link into the Page URL to tag box.
- Fill in Campaign source, Campaign medium and Campaign name, plus Campaign term, Campaign content or Campaign ID if needed.
- Choose Lowercase values, then press Run.
- Use Copy result to paste the tagged link into your campaign.
How it works
Existing query parameters stay in place and the UTM parameters are added after them, while a #fragment stays at the very end.
If the URL already has a UTM parameter that you set here, the old value is replaced.
Values are percent-encoded, so a space becomes %20, and lowercasing keeps reports consistent because analytics tools treat different letter case as different values.
The base must be an absolute http or https URL, and source, medium and campaign are required.
Everything runs in your browser. Your input is not uploaded or stored.
Questions and answers
Which UTM parameters are required?
utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign are the core three. utm_term, utm_content and utm_id are optional.
Are UTM parameters case sensitive?
Yes. Google Analytics treats Email and email as different values, so a consistent lowercase style keeps reports clean.
Should I use UTM tags on internal links?
No. In Google Analytics 4, a UTM tag on a link between your own pages replaces the visit's original traffic source, so reports credit the wrong campaign.
