How it works
Accent marks are removed, so café becomes cafe, and all letters become lowercase.
Latin letters and digits keeps only a to z and 0 to 9. Keep Unicode letters and digits also keeps letters from other alphabets, such as Greek or Cyrillic, with accent marks removed.
Spaces and punctuation between words become a single separator, with none at the start or end.
The slug ends at a whole word to stay within the limit. Only a first word longer than the limit is cut partway.
If no usable letters or numbers remain, you get an error that suggests the Unicode option.
Everything runs in your browser. Your input is not uploaded or stored.
Questions and answers
What is a URL slug?
It is the part of a web address that names a specific page, usually written in lowercase with hyphens between words. A clear slug helps people see what a page is about before they click.
Should I use hyphens or underscores in a slug?
Hyphens are the usual choice in web addresses because they read like spaces. Pick Underscore if your system or file naming rules expect it.
Why did my non-English title produce an error?
With Latin letters and digits selected, letters outside a to z are dropped. Switch Letters to Keep Unicode letters and digits to keep them.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The slug is created in your browser, and the title you type is not sent anywhere.
