How it works
Natural order reads numbers inside text as numbers, so item 2 comes before item 12. Alphabetical compares character by character, so item 12 comes first.
Plain numbers sorts by value and needs every line to be a number such as 42, -3.5 or 1e3. A blank line, including one at the very end, causes an error.
Ignore case is on by default, so Apple and apple sort together. Accents still count as differences.
Duplicate and blank lines are kept. Lines that compare as equal stay in their original order.
Text is ordered by English alphabet rules rather than raw character codes.
Everything runs in your browser. Your input is not uploaded or stored.
Questions and answers
How do I sort a list alphabetically?
Paste the list with one item per line, choose Alphabetical or Natural, and press Run. Pick Descending to sort from Z to A.
What is natural sort order?
Natural order treats numbers inside text by their value, the way people read them. File 9 comes before File 10 instead of after it.
Can it remove duplicates while sorting?
No. The sorter keeps every line. Run the Duplicate line remover first if you want each line only once.
Is my list uploaded?
No. Sorting runs in your browser tab, and the list is not sent to a server.
