How to use the angle converter
- Choose the unit you have under From.
- Type the angle in the box, such as 45, pi/4 or 40° 26' 46" N.

How it works
One full turn equals 360 degrees, 2π radians and 400 gradians. One degree is 60 arcminutes or 3,600 arcseconds.
Radians can be typed with pi or π, such as 3pi/2, and the radian result also shows the multiple of π.
DMS input accepts symbols, d m s letters or spaces, and S, W or a minus sign mean a negative angle. Minutes and seconds must be below 60.
DMS output rounds seconds to 2 decimal places and carries over to minutes and degrees when needed. Other results show 12 significant digits, plus the angle normalized to 0 to 360 degrees.
Everything runs in your browser. Your input is not uploaded or stored.
Questions and answers
How do I convert degrees to radians?
Multiply degrees by π / 180. For example, 180 degrees is π radians, about 3.14159.
How do I convert decimal degrees to degrees, minutes and seconds?
Keep the whole degrees, multiply the remainder by 60 for minutes, then multiply the remaining fraction by 60 again for seconds. 40.446111 becomes 40° 26′ 46″.
What is a gradian?
A gradian is 1/400 of a full turn, so a right angle is 100 gradians. It is used in some surveying work.
