How to use the hex decoder

- Press Run to decode the bytes.
- Copy result or Download the output.
How it works
Spaces, tabs and line breaks between digits are ignored, and uppercase or lowercase letters both work.
The input must contain complete pairs. An odd number of digits is rejected.
Prefixes like 0x and separators like commas, colons or dashes are rejected. Remove them first.
If the bytes are not valid UTF-8 text, you get an error. Choose Hexadecimal bytes to get compact lowercase hex instead.
Everything runs in your browser. Your input is not uploaded or stored.
Questions and answers
Why do I get an error about complete pairs?
Each byte is two hex digits. Check for a missing digit, a 0x prefix, or separators other than spaces and line breaks.
What does not valid UTF-8 text mean?
The bytes do not form UTF-8 text. They may be binary data, or text saved in a different encoding such as Latin-1.
What does the Hexadecimal bytes output do?
It removes the whitespace and returns the same bytes as one continuous lowercase string, which is handy for cleaning up copied hex.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Decoding happens in your browser.
