About SnowRock
SnowRock is a data brokerage connecting U.S. business owners with buyers seeking data for AI training and evaluation. We research potential matches and coordinate introductions. Owners agree licenses and deliver data directly to buyers.
About this role
A buyer may ask for years of support conversations, software project histories or records from a particular industry. Those descriptions rarely identify a ready supplier. You will turn the request into a focused company search, examine how relevant businesses operate and find the people who can explain what records exist.
This role combines research with direct conversations. You will learn enough about a company’s systems, record history and business context to judge whether an introduction is useful. You will work with research and partnerships colleagues to refine the search as evidence comes in, rather than keep collecting names that do not fit. Owners retain the decision to license and send approved material directly to the buyer.
This role is based in Michigan, with SnowRock locations in Ludington and Traverse City. We will discuss work arrangements during hiring.
What you will do
- Translate a buyer’s request into a sourcing brief covering the industry, records, time period, formats, intended use and essential exclusions.
- Research relevant companies through public sources and permitted business contacts, recording why each company might fit and what remains unknown.
- Find an appropriate owner or senior contact, explain the request plainly and establish whether the company wants to explore a potential license.
- Ask practical questions about record creation, software systems, useful history, exports and the people needed to answer a buyer’s questions.
- Prepare short company descriptions for internal review, clearly separating confirmed details, owner statements and unanswered questions.
- Coordinate approved introductions and follow-up questions without requesting raw datasets through ordinary prospecting emails or promising a completed transaction.
- Compare sourcing results with the original brief, explain why candidates fall out and suggest changes that improve the next search.
What you bring
- A record of finding relevant organizations or suppliers from an incomplete brief, with examples of how you judged fit.
- Ability to investigate company operations and explain how everyday work produces records that could be useful to a buyer.
- Comfort conducting concise business conversations and asking follow-up questions when a broad description leaves important details unresolved.
- Organized research notes that another person can use without repeating the entire investigation.
- Experience in sourcing, industry research, procurement, business development or independent work that demonstrates equivalent skills.
Additional experience we value
- Knowledge of an industry such as manufacturing, professional services, software or distribution.
- Experience with business software exports, record formats or the practical limits of historical data.
- Experience refining a supplier search after early candidates proved unsuitable.
Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $270,000–$365,000 USD. Equity and benefits are additional. Your written offer will specify the package for your role.
